Underfloor heating is a very fashionable winter heating tool, there are various types of underfloor heating, and water underfloor heating is a common type for us. So found in the use of floor heating water leakage in the process of how to deal with it? Here to introduce you to the floor heating leak repair methods

pipe leak detector

1, to determine whether underfloor heating leaks lead to water seepage

To determine whether there is a leak in the underfloor heating, a pressure test must be conducted on the pipes. The pressure test needs to be done with the pipes completely closed. If a valve is found not to close completely during this session and its function fails, then it cannot run the next process.

The test is performed as follows

First close the main valves for the main water inlet and return, then close all branch valve switches for the main underfloor heating pipe, then pressure test the main pipe inlet main and return main respectively. After confirming that the fitting valves can be closed effectively, open each branch valve one by one and pressure test the pipes.

If the pressure value is always the same, it means that there is no abnormality in the geothermal pipes and the leak is not caused by the floor heating. If you find that the pressure drops, it means that there is a leak in the pipeline and the valves at both ends of the corresponding pipeline can be closed.

2、Location judgment and finding of leakage points

Generally speaking, if the geothermal pipeline really leaks, then the location of the water seepage from the shed roof downstairs is not necessarily the place where the water comes out of the pipe rupture. Because the ground is not uniformly thin and thick, water will flow to a lower location, or where the floor heating reflective membrane is joined, and then converge there. It only begins to penetrate downward once the area is saturated with water content of the building material.

Although a pressure test could identify which way the pipe was going, it still couldn't point to the exact location of the leak. The next step is to use a stupid method and a smart method.

The dumb method of leak detection is to follow the water trail from the break point to the source until the leak is found. If the distance is closer, it's okay, if the distance is farther, the ground in the house is no different from the disfigurement.

pipe leak detector

A simple and effective way to detect leaks is to use a pipe leak detector. Generally speaking, the basic detection method is, connect the pipe leak detector host, headphones, sensors. Turn on the switch, wear the pipe leak detector headset, the sensor placed on the road above the pipeline, placed step by step according to the length of the pace, step by step listening, the closer to the leak, the stronger the signal, the farther away from the leak the weaker the signal, by comparing the signal strength between different points to achieve the purpose of detecting leaks. The only shortcoming is the cost of the problem, ask the maintenance master to detect, the single cost is not low.

3、The repair and treatment of broken pipes

The repair method is simple, break the ground, then cut off the broken part, and then use high quality Thai opening pieces and floor heating pipes to connect. Thermal fusion is undesirable and extremely risky. For those who do not want to break the ground for repairs, simply drain the remaining hot water from the pipe and then close the small valves at each end.

It should be noted here that the above method of operation is only applicable to two-valve manifolds; single-valve floor heating manifolds are more time-consuming and costly to deal with and incur.

In addition, there are many reasons why floor heating pipes break, such as when an electric drill is drilled through, it can be repaired and then used again. If the breakage is due to quality problems or freezing or aging, it is recommended that everyone give up and the floor heating be redone.
