What are the key points for proper operation of geothermal well drilling?

Geothermal wells are drilled wells for geothermal steam and geothermal water. It is an important and special technology, which is necessary for exploration and exploitation of geothermal fluids. For high-temperature geothermal fields, the depth of drilling is generally between 500 meters and 2,000 meters, with a few exceeding 2,000 meters and most at 1,200 to 1,800 meters. For low-temperature conductive geothermal fields, the average depth is 1800 meters, while ground-pressure geothermal fields can be drilled to depths of up to 6000 meters.


Whether a geothermal well can be successful must be guided by a good feasibility study report based on the geological design, the correct organization of drilling construction, and grasp the following points.

1. The selection of drilling rig equipment should allow room for deeper drilling depths;

2, as far as possible to maintain the vertical drilling, in order to reduce the well accidents and well wall pipe subject to wear;

3. Accurate drilling geological compilation, correct geological stratification, judgment and countermeasures for possible problems based on geological changes in drilling; timely revision and improvement of geological design;

4. maintain a reasonable well structure and strict cementing: the caliber of the surface pipe and the depth of entry should be fully considered for the caliber of the water extraction equipment and the depth of entry; the well wall pipe should go down into the thermal storage to a certain depth and strictly close the upper layers of the top plate of the thermal storage; as far as possible, 3 diameter or 4 diameter to the bottom of the hole;

5, strict use of flushing fluid drilling, drilling in the thermal storage layer is strictly prohibited to use thick mud;

6, timely geophysical logging: before entering the surface pipe, well wall pipe and reach the design depth should be logged, in order to combine geological cataloguing for geological stratification, to understand the temperature changes in the stratum and the permeability of the thermal reservoir, water characteristics, to guide the construction of drilling;;

7, good washing and capacity testing of hot wells drilling completion should be timely washing and capacity testing, prohibit the stagnation time is too long, washing should be for the thermal reservoir formation characteristics, drilling depth, the use of mud nature and consistency using different methods; capacity testing should meet the requirements of the specification.
